Please read these Safety & Allergy Guidelines carefully and in full before purchasing or using any SVA Herbals Pte Ltd product. By purchasing or using our products, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these guidelines. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in adverse reactions for which SVA Herbals Pte Ltd accepts no liability.

1. Nature of Our Products

SVA Herbals Pte Ltd products are formulated using natural and naturally derived plant-based ingredients, including but not limited to pure plant leaf powders (henna, indigo, cassia), fruit acid powders, butters, waxes, plant oils, clays, herbs, nut and seed powders. Natural does not mean allergen-free. Natural ingredients can and do cause allergic reactions in susceptible individuals.

Ingredient formulations are subject to change without prior notice. Always read the product label for the full and current ingredient list before each use. Do not rely solely on information displayed on our website, as it may not reflect the most recent formulation.

2. Mandatory Patch Test

A patch test is mandatory before every first use and is strongly recommended before each subsequent use, even if you have previously used SVA products without issue. Sensitivity can develop at any time.

How to perform a patch test:

  1. Mix a small quantity of the product powder(s) into a thick paste using water.
  2. Apply a small amount to a sensitive area such as the inner elbow, behind the ear, or the scalp.
  3. Cover with plastic wrap to keep moist and leave for 3–4 hours, or overnight depending on intended use duration.
  4. Remove and monitor the area for at least 48 hours.
  5. Watch for any signs of reaction including redness, itching, swelling, hives, burning, or headache.

If any reaction occurs, do not use the product. Discontinue immediately and consult a healthcare professional or dermatologist. SVA Herbals Pte Ltd accepts no liability for reactions arising from failure to conduct a patch test.

3. Specific Ingredient Warnings

INDIGO: Indigo powder is derived from partially fermented plant leaves and is not suitable for individuals with mould or dust allergies. Some users may experience mild to severe headaches during or after use. If you experience a headache, discontinue use immediately and seek medical advice if symptoms persist.

HENNA: Individuals with G6PD enzyme deficiency must not use henna or henna-based products. If you are unsure whether you have this condition, consult your doctor before use.

FINE POWDERS: When handling fine powder formulations, wear a face mask to avoid inhalation. Keep powders away from eyes, nose, and mouth.

4. Contraindications — Do Not Use If:

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding — consult your doctor before use.
  • You have a known allergy to any botanical, herbal, plant-based, or natural ingredient.
  • You have G6PD enzyme deficiency (henna products).
  • You have a mould or dust allergy (indigo products).
  • You have an active scalp condition, open wounds, sores, or skin irritation in the area of application.
  • You have previously experienced an allergic reaction to any hair dye, natural or chemical.
  • You are under 16 years of age, unless under direct supervision of a healthcare professional.

If you are unsure whether any of the above applies to you, consult a qualified healthcare professional before use.

5. Safe Use Instructions

  • All SVA products are for external use only. Do not ingest.
  • Avoid contact with eyes. If contact occurs, rinse immediately and thoroughly with clean water. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
  • Keep all products out of reach of children and pets.
  • Store products as directed on the label, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
  • Do not use products beyond their expiry date.
  • Discontinue use immediately if any irritation, discomfort, or adverse reaction occurs during application.

6. Colour Results Disclaimer

Hair colour results from plant-based dyes vary significantly between individuals and are influenced by factors including natural hair colour, hair texture, porosity, existing chemical treatments, application method, duration, and water quality. SVA Herbals Pte Ltd does not guarantee specific colour outcomes. Some hair types may require multiple applications for optimal coverage. This is a characteristic of natural plant-based dyes and does not constitute a product defect.

  • SVA Herbals Pte Ltd shall not be held liable for any individual reaction to any particular ingredient, whether natural or otherwise.
  • SVA Herbals Pte Ltd gives no warranty or guarantee of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
  • SVA Herbals Pte Ltd shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages of any kind arising from the use or misuse of its products.
